Philips all-in-one cooker is a brilliant cooker. It is a pressure cooker and a slow cooker at the same.  I have never regretted buying this cooking gadget because when I am running short of time and I would like to enjoy a home-cooked meal I will use the pressure cooker function to cook a hearty meal for myself and my family. It saves time and money.

I would like to share my family all time favourite soy sauce beef cooked in dark soy sauce using my Philips All-In-Cooker.

Ingredients:

100g cooking oil.

800g of beef. You can also use lamb. Rinse the beef or lamb with water and pat it dry. Cut it into smaller pieces.

200g minced shallots.

3 cloves of crushed garlic

1 teaspoon of ginger powder

2 teaspoon  cinnamon powder

4 stalks of curry leaves

1  tsp tamarind paste

1 tsp  ground clove

5 cardamoms

1 star anise

1/2 teaspoon masala powder

1/2 teaspoon fennel powder

2 cups  of water

150g of coconut milk

8 tbsp dark soy sauce

4 tbsp curry powder

3 red deseeded chillies if you want it hotter you can add more chillies

Salt and Sugar to taste

Methods:

Heats up the Philips all-in-one cooker by pressing Saute/Sear High Temp and then press  Start/Reheat. Once  Start/ Reheat is being pressed, the Heating lights up. You have about two minutes to saute and after two minutes the sauteing process will stop but if you need to continue to saute repeat the same process by pressing  Saute/Sear High Temp and then press  Start/Reheat. At this point, you do not cover your cooker.

Pour in the cooking oil and heat it up and when the oil is being heated up, place all the ingredients into the pot except for water, coconut milk, dark soy sauce, meat, salt and sugar. Give everything a good stir-fry until they are aromatic. Use a silicone wok turner to stir-fry to avoid scratching the non-stick surface of the inner pot.

Next, add beef, water and dark soy sauce and press Pressure Cook until you get to the Meat/ Poultry cooking function and then you press Start/Reheat. Please note that I do not add my coconut milk yet.

Cover the cooker with its lid now. Making sure that it is properly shut and set the pressure valve to seal.

To set a different pressure cooking time, press Cooking Time and press + or to set the desired pressure time. I set it at 20 minutes if you want the beef to be softer, you can cook it longer.

Press Start/Reheat to start the cooking process. When the cooker reaches the pressure, its Maintain Pressure lights up and the floater will rise like the photo above. At this point, you will not be able to open the lid of the cooker.

Afer the pressure cooking time is over, the cooker automatically switches to Keep Warm mode and the Keep Warm lights lit up.

Now you can turn the pressure regulator to vent, and the pressure cooker starts to release its cooking pressure and floater will drop when the pressure is released sufficiently. Therefore, you can safely open the lid.

You can use the handle of a ladle or chopstick to push the regulator to vent to avoid getting burnt by the steam coming out from the regulator valve.

If you are cooking soup, it is best not to release the cooking pressure by turning the regulator to vent because the soup may spray out from the regulator valve and you may burn yourself.

I will normally wait for the cooking pressure to be released naturally and the floater will drop automatically. This will allow me to open the lid safely.

Turn off the cooker when the cooking process is over by pressing Cancel/Warm.

For this dish, I did release the cooking pressure by turning the pressure regulator to vent and open the lid when the float is down.

Add coconut milk and press Saute/Sear Low Temp and then Start/Reheat.

Give it a good stir as it boils and sprinkles a pinch of salt and sugar to taste.
